This 23,500 sf facility involved the design and construction to expand and upgrade current lab facilities on the Bourns Hall B-Wing, Second Floor, which is primarily used for teaching and laboratory space at the Bourns College of Engineering on the UCR campus in Riverside.
The project required the conversion of existing space to expand research capabilities by the installation of new laboratory upgrades such as new fume hoods, laboratory casework, new sinks and wash stations as well as associated upgrades to the general plumbing, HVAC, and electrical systems.
The project also included the investigation and verification of existing conditions and a status update on the suitability of all existing building systems related to the construction and commissioning of complete, fully operational wet laboratories.
SMR’s team of architects and engineers provided comprehensive code compliance and plan review services to ensure prompt approval from the Division of the State Architect.
